Curriculum Development, Testing and Multimedia
American Councils' Curriculum Development, Testing and Multimedia Department offers the highest quality materials for teaching and learning the languages of Eurasia. We design, develop and produce print and electronic publications, educational web sites, teacher training seminars, learning style assessment tools and language testing instruments.
Recent projects have included:
- Russian language textbook development and production, such as Russian: Stage I: Live from Moscow and Stage II: Welcome Back, as well as the series Russian Face to Face
- Curriculum and test development for the new Advanced Placement (AP) Russian program for high schools
- RussNet development and maintenance; this project provides free Russian language resources, including interactive Web sites with teaching and learning modules for Russian
- CenAsiaNet development with Indiana University, providing online Azeri, Kazakh, Turkmen, and Uzbek language resources for teachers and learners, including interactive learning modules
- Internet authoring tools that allow teachers to create and to develop their own curricula and exercises online
- Collaboration with the National Foreign Language Center (NFLC) to produce Turkmen, Chechen, and other rarely taught language learning materials
- Test-writing seminars for teachers of Russian
- Teacher training seminars on the use of RussNet as a teaching tool
- Learning styles assessment tools available to teachers and language learners
- Business Russian development (in collaboration with Moscow State University); this project offers an interactive, online curriculum focusing on Russia's emerging business culture
